For its last event before the Summer break, OPCD’s successful Future Of Diplomacy Talk Series welcomes HE Franco Frattini, former Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The Future of Diplomacy talks series is a programme of one on one conversations between HE Omar Ghobash, Assistant Minister of Public and Cultural Diplomacy and a distinguished guest. The conversations explore the insights and ideas of significant figures from the worlds of science, technology, governance, cultural theory, history, religious studies, CVE, philosophy and mental health today.

HE Franco Frattini served as the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs for two terms from 2002-2004 and again 2008-2011.
From 2004-2008, HE Frattini served as the Vice-President of the European Commission and as Commissioner for Justice, Freedom and Security.
Today HE Frattini is the Justice and Chamber President to the Italian Supreme Administrative Court, President of the Italian Society for International Organization (UN Association of Italy), Special Advisor to the Serbian Government for the EU integration process and President of the High Court of Sport Justice (CONI). HE Frattini has been awarded the Knight’s Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and Commander of the Legion of Honour by the President of France.
The talk was moderated by Italian journalist, author, documentary filmmaker and anchor Monica Maggioni. Ms. Maggioni served as President of Rai (Radiotelevisione Italiana) from 2015-2018 and as Vice President of the European Broadcasting Union. She is a member of the European Council on Foreign Relations and the Aspen Institute as well as a professor of History of Contemporary Conflicts and a 2019 recipient of the Knight of the Legion of Honour order of merit.
