For its fifth edition, OPCD’s successful Future Of Diplomacy Talk Series welcomes former UK Ambassador HE Tom Fletcher.
The Future of Diplomacy talks series is a programme of one on one conversations between HE Omar Ghobash, Assistant Minister of Public and Cultural Diplomacy and a distinguished guest. The conversations explore the insights and ideas of significant figures from the worlds of science, technology, governance, cultural theory, history, religious studies, CVE, philosophy and mental health today.

HE Tom Fletcher
After four years as foreign policy adviser to three Prime Ministers, and four representing the UK as Ambassador to Lebanon, Tom Fletcher is now a Visiting Professor at New York University, and chair of the International Advisory Council of the Creative Industries Federation, promoting Britain’s most dynamic sector overseas.
His book on the future of statecraft, ‘The Naked Diplomat: Power and Politics in the Digital Age’, was published in June 2016 by Harper Collins.
He is a Board Member of the Dubai Future Academy, and an Advisor to the Global Business Coalition for Education and the Emirates Diplomatic Academy.
In 2018 he founded The Foundation for Opportunity and is Project Director of Towards Global Learning Goals. In November 2019, Tom was elected Principal of Hertford College, Oxford University, a role he will take up in September 2020.
