Following this week’s dramatic ceremony at the White House, when the UAE and Israel signed an accord normalising relations, the American Jewish Committee has organised an online talk.
During this discussion, we hear the compelling story of UAE interreligious initiatives, particularly for the Abrahamic faiths — Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
The panelists include H.E. Omar Saif Ghobash, UAE Assistant Minister for Culture and Public Diplomacy; Rabbi Bruce Lustig, Senior Rabbi at Washington Hebrew Congregation; Rev. Johnnie Moore, President of the Congress of Christian Leaders, and Dr. Elena Procario-Foley, Driscoll Professor of Jewish-Catholic Studies at Iona College.
They discuss the UAE’s Year of Tolerance; the Abu Dhabi Abrahamic Family House, which will host a synagogue, church, and mosque; Pope Francis’s 2019 historic visit to the UAE; the country’s expatriate Jewish community; and the particular interest of American religious leadership in interfaith developments in the Muslim world.
