UAE - Netherlands Week
The United Arab Emirates and Kingdom of the Netherlands are slated to jointly host the inaugural UAE-Netherlands Week from May 30 until June 5, 2021, in an effort to promote cultural and knowledge exchange between the two countries.
The week comes against the backdrop of the two countries’ celebration of nearly fifty years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, as well as the UAE’s fiftieth anniversary since its founding as a nation.
The ‘UAE – Netherlands Week‘ is presented with the support of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates to the Kingdom of The Netherlands and the Abu Dhabi Youth Hub.
The Abraham Accords
On the occasion of the signature of the Abraham Accords between the UAE, Israel, Bahrain and the United States of America, OPCD representatives were invited to discuss this historic milestone for a peaceful Middle East.
The Future of Diplomacy Talks Series
Inspired by the vast potential for growth and learning that marks these unprecedented times of uncertainty, OPCD launched a new programme of virtual talks. Under the umbrella theme – The Future of Diplomacy – each live event features a one on one conversation between HE Omar Saif Ghobash, and a distinguished guest.
The series explores the insights and ideas of significant figures from the worlds of science, technology, governance, cultural theory, history, religious studies, CVE, philosophy and mental health.
The Art of Cultural Diplomacy Series
OPCD, in partnership with Image Nation Abu Dhabi, initiated a series on virtual film screening series to spark a global discussion around cultural diplomacy through film.
Each month, it covers a diverse range of topics from disease control, women’s education, wildlife conservation and people of determination.
Literary Conversations Across Borders
A new initiative to promote international cultural understanding through the power of books and words created by OPCD and the Emirates Literature Foundation.
The series hosts Emirati writers and commentators in live discussions with high profile experts from around the world on a variety of critical topics.
Dialogues on the Art of Arab Fashion
The Office of Public and Cultural Diplomacy presents, in partnership with the Zay Initiative, a digital talk series Dialogues on the Art of Arab Fashion.
The Zay Initiative aims to promote an understanding of the evolution of regional Arab culture and an appreciation for this unique heritage. The entity is committed to intercultural dialogue and to the empowerment of women and their stories both regionally and globally.

Cultural Marathon Symposium
Held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, a 24-hour cultural marathon symposium was moderated by UAE Ambassadors in Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Belgium/Luxembourg/European Union, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.
The symposium witnessed the participation of museum directors, artists, design specialists and heads of cultural institutions, who discussed in-depth the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic while offering insights on future trends.
