Norway-UAE: +40 Years of Culture
Celebrating 40 years of cultural exchange between Norway and the UAE. The exhibition “Norway-UAE: +40 years of Culture” tells the story of the wooden houses amongst skyscrapers and minarets in the metropolis.
L’Institut du Monde Arabe
Alongside the first international retrospective by Emirati artist Abdulqader Al Rais, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) and OPCD organised an event at L’Institut du Monde Arabe that included a presentation about the Year of Zayed and the arts scene in the Gulf given by His Excellency Zaki Nusseibeh, Minister of State, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC).
London Design Biennale 2018 — Time Is Subjective
With support from OPCD, the UAE–Saudi creative collective Tinkah represented the UAE at the London Design Biennale in 2018 with an installation titled Time Is Subjective. The piece was intended as an homage to the UAE’s landscape and history featuring 70 large hourglasses filled with sand. The number of hourglasses evoked the most important decade in the UAE’s history: the 1970s, an era that saw the unification of the country and marked the start of its contemporary history. → Read moreGlobal Art Forum: Past, Present, Future — London
This special edition of Art Dubai’s Global Art Forum, which took place for the first time at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, focused on the past, present, and future of art, culture, and ideonomy (the science of ideas). Attended by more than 280 guests, including Her Excellency Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, and His Excellency Sulaiman Almazroui, Ambassador of the UAE to the Court of St. James’s, the Forum also counted as audience members a number of journalists. The event was broadcast live via social media outlets.
