Since 2013, on November 3rd, the UAE Flag day is marked by individuals, schools, government offices and businesses, who hang the national flag outside their workplaces and homes.
Launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to celebrate the accession of the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, when he became the president of the UAE in 2004.
The flag was designed by a young Emirati, Abdullah Al Maainah, back in 1971, as part of a competition. The four colours represent Arab unity as described in a poetry written by Safi-u-ddin Al Hali.
Red stands for courage, green for hope, white for honesty and black for strength of mind.
In response to HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, everyone is invited to raise the UAE Flag at 11am today.
