His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation honours Indian national Dr. Zulekha Daud.
Dr. Daud is a pioneering Indian national who arrived to the United Arab Emirates in 1964. She is believed to be the first practicing female doctor in the United Arab Emirates, who has contributed to transforming its healthcare upon her arrival.
His Highness delivered a letter of appreciation to Dr. Daud in recognition of her efforts spanning over five decades of revolutionizing the healthcare landscape within the United Arab Emirates. Beyond Dr. Daudʼs tireless efforts towards the welfare of Emiratis and expats living in the United Arab Emirates, her dedicated service has resulted in super-specialty hospitals, medical centres, educational institutions and pharmacies across the United Arab Emirates and her native India.
This recognition aligns with the “Year of Zayed”, perpetuating the legacy and honourable memory of the nationʼs founding father. It also celebrates the historical legacy between the United Arab Emirates and India, reaffirming their long-standing ties and cooperation.
“I am honored to have had the privilege of meeting HRH Shaikh Zayed in the early days when I was on my visit to Al Ain, with my husband Dr. Iqbal Daud. We were so glad to be hosted by HRH and he took such good care that we cannot forget his hospitality even today. Such a humble soul he was and the same care and compassion is seen today in the people of UAE. He has been an inspiration not just for UAE but for the world itself. We also had the honor of treating and providing medical aid to many members in the royal family and we are happy we could help. Till date we enjoy the confidence and loyal support of the rulers in UAE and this compounds our love for the nation and it’s community. We are privileged to be in this land and hope to give back the best world class services to the UAE residents with more development and expanding our facilities.”
