The publishing grant provides up to USD 30,000 in support towards research projects.
Applications are now possible for the 2020 edition of the FOCAL POINT Publishing Grant.
Providing up to USD 30,000 for one or more art historical research projects, this cycle of the grant looks to support long-form essays of unpublished and original research or new readings of historical content, and reproductions of critical historical texts or small publications that have been out of print for at least 10 years.
The work should focus on global modernism in relation to artists, practices, and/or theoretical content produced in the MENASA (Middle East, North Africa and South Asia) region during the post-war period, 1940s to the 1960s, or engage with content from that period even if they were published at a later date. In addition to providing funding, Sharjah Art Foundation will publish the text on its own publishing platform and offer design and printing support.
Writers, researchers, scholars, public institutions and publishing houses are eligible to apply.
The application deadline is 10 October 2020.
